Out and about in Northamptonshire

Bill Hulme with a bottle of Champs D'amour
It's good to get out and about and we had a wonderful day at the The Weston & Lois Weedon Horticultural Society's Annual Produce and Flower Show on Saturday.  The show was really well organised with lovely people and a great range of local products.  It was good to see just local produce on sale, and I have to admit that we bought rather a large piece of local Oxford Blue to eat when we got home.

It's really beautifully dark pink this year and extra fruity!
Luckily the weather held out and the organisers had a handy trampoline to distract the children whilst their parents and grandparents tried local cider, cheese, cakes, beer and wine and looked around at the brilliant produce in the tent.  It was good to meet food writter Matthew Fort and William Sitwell.

A very enjoyable day all round.

We're not taking any notice of the clouds!

Summer 2013 update

It's looking it's going to be a bumper crop and with this weather it may well yet be our best ever vintage.  We won't tempt the Gods though  .. just in case, but the roses are looking beautiful against the blue skies.
